Another 140 Approval (Help wanted)

My 140 is approved on 10/31/01.
ND: Aug 20
RD: Aug 1
EAC-01-255XXXX
I am supposed go to india by this month end; So can I go to India after applying 485 ? I heard that I can\'t leave this country till I get receipt.
is that so?
I would really appreciate for the quick response...I need to make trave arrangements.

You can go in and out as long as your H1 is valid. If your H1 is expiring and you don\'t want to renew than you need advance parole for going out of country.

Renewing H1 and keep H1 current is safe way even though you are in I -485 stage.

SGURJAR - You are wrong. I asked my lawyer about the same and he
told me this.
If I apply for my AOS, I need to wait till I get my receipt.
If you have a valid H1 & did not apply for AP, you don\'t have
to wait till you get your AP.
If you don\'t have a valid H1 (passed 6 year limit), you have to
wait till you get your AP.
Generally folks do travel but it is at one\'s own risk. So plan
accordingly.
