Dear All,

What does the annotation on the DV immigrant visa means? My wife and myself have acquired an immigrant visa through the dv programme. My wife is the principal applicant. On the visa she has one (1) star * against her annotation but I have two (2) stars **. What is the significance of this annotation thing? can somebody kindly explain?

:confused:I have the same question as him! but in the annotation part on my visa stamp is written 212 (g) (2) (a) ! what does it mean? do u think it will cause any problem at the time of entry into U.S(POE)?

Those kind a annotations are the secret codes of US immigration. Even the consulars who issues visa don't knnow about its purpose. So, it's not a matter to worry. I had 1 annotatiion and i found abt it's information in some websites, i dun know which!

9 FAM 40.11 PN4.1 Waiver Under INA
212(g)(2)(A)
(TL:VISA-427; 06-20-2002)
INA 212(g)(2)(A) appears to have been written chiefly to accommodate
adjustment of status cases. It allows the Attorney General to grant a waiver
to any alien who subsequently has been vaccinated after having been found
ineligible at the time of adjustment of status. Since medical exams for
immigrants are conducted prior to the visa interview, most applicants will
not need an INA 212(g)(2)(A) waiver. However, during the initial phases,
some applicants will appear for their interview without the completed Form
DS-2053, Medical Examination for Immigrant or Refugee Applicant. Consular
officers must refuse these applicants under INA 212(a)(1)(A)(ii) and the
applicant must return to the panel physician to complete their medical exam.
Once they have done so, they will obtain a Form DS-2053. This form is
submitted to the consular office and the consular officer would approve a
blanket waiver under INA 212(g)(2)(A).

It means your wife is petitioner (principal applicant) and you are applicant through her. That's it..

Hmm, that doesn't fit my case. I am the principal applicant and I have two stars, my wife has one and my son has two also. Also, the IV Categories DV1, DV2 and DV3 respectively indicate the principal applicant, the spouse and the child of the principal applicant.

I have seen various annotation ! it varies from case to case !

I have not found anything about stars!but i found sth interesting:

9 FAM 40.11 N10.2 Ineligibility under INA
212(a)(1)(A)(ii)
(TL:VISA-189; 04-22-1999)
U.S. Department of State Foreign Affairs Manual Volume 9 - Visas
9 FAM 40.11 Notes Page 17 of 18

a. An immigrant visa applicant who is ineligible under INA 212(a)(1)(A)(ii)
may benefit from an INA 212(g)(2)(A) or INA 212(g)(2)(B) waiver if:

(1) The missing vaccinations are subsequently received; or

(2) The panel physician determines that administration of the required
vaccine would be medically inappropriate given the applicant’s age,
medical history or current medical condition.

INS has delegated blanket authority to consular offers to grant INA
212(g)(2)(A) and INA 212(g)(2)(B) waivers without the need for fee or
form.

b. Applicants who object to receiving the required vaccinations on religious
or moral grounds must seek an INA 212(g)(2)(c) waiver from INS by
filing the Form I-724, Application to Waive Exclusion Grounds. Consular
officers do not have the authority to adjudicate or grant INA 212(g)(2)(c)
waivers.

But the problem is we submitted our medical examination at the time of interiew?????!!!

I made a guess, because stars are nothing saying, no annotation..
