Howdy All: (my passport exerience)

I took ONLY one InfoPass appointment (for me & my wife)
for PP stamping and USCIS allowed us inside with tokens for each one of us.

We went inside at 7:45am (for 7:30am appointment) and were waiting;
at around 8:45am my number was called. The guy inside the booth
(looked like a Desi to me) asked for a valid PP, I485 approval notice,
all EAD's, all AP's, two passport size pictures (NOTE: NO NEED TO WRITE
YOUR NAME & A# ON THE BACK SIDE OF THE PHOTO. THE APPROVAL
NOTICE TELLS YOU TO WRITE THEM BUT IT IS NOT NECESSARY), current
I94 (from H1b notice) and old I94 that I got when I got into US in 2003.
Once they were all in place, he told me to sign and print my right index
finger print in a form twice. And that was it, he stamped on my passport
saying "Immigration blah blah.." with my A# on it. He said my card
should be coming in the mail in 3 to 6 months time (yeah right!) and
that was it.

We went to endorse our SSN cards at McKinney and guess what? There
was only one lady behind the counter and we were around 50 people
waiting for our turns. We waited for one hour before giving up on it;
we will go sometime during this week (early in the morning around 9am).

Any questions, please let me know. I will be around visiting this forum
often (minus checking the status of our cases like a maniac 10 times
a day :)

Here are my details:

RIR Approved in 2003 September
I140 ND 9/15/03 AD 9/10/04
I485 EB3 INDIA PD 2/02 ND 4/13/04 TD 11/23/04 Dallas,TX
AD 6/24/05 Notice Received 6/28/05 PP stamped 7/5/05

Congratulatoins HOWDY !

Having the PP stamped is like closing the chapter on our Green card. I did my PP Stamping on 22 June and have not seen any LUD change on my online status, nor have I received any Welcome Mail from USCIS. Anyway, those things will follow, as long as the PP is stampted.
In your message you mentioned something about Endorseing SSN, whats the deal with that. Could you explain ?
My wife and I entered US on a Student Visas (before we were married); we got our SSN cards, but unlike people on H1B SSN card, where it says on the face of it, Authorized to work Only, mine and hers doesnt say that, its just like that of a US National, with only the name, SSN # and signature. I wonder if we are required to go get any endorsing done. Please advise.

Glad to hear it, :D

before u go for SS, download and fill it out form (same form as u apply),
sign it, make copy for u records.
when u go to counter it would save ur 1 hour, if u give the printed pre-filled signed form on in begining, that will skip their first step to write down why u were here and to be called to give u empty form and called again when u finish, within 15 minutes u will be standing outside parking. :D

Thanks POJ & Akx...

POJ: How can I get the form online? Can you please give me pointers?

Akx: Our SSN cards have endorsements saying "Valid for Work only with
INS authorization". You say that yours doesn't have it! If I were
you, I would still go ahead and get the new card (with the same SSN #)
just to make sure that Social Security Admin knows that I'm NOT
a non-immigrant anymore.

Good luck to y'all
