An urgent question about coming interview

I mailed out all documents in Feb and did fingerprint last month.
and I just received a letter indicating there will be an interview next month
They call it the initial interview.
Could someone tell me how long will it take after the interview is done?
Is this the most important interview or there will be another one?

By the way, they asked my hubby to bring his birth cerfiticate while he surely does not have one.(He left his born country for almost 15 years and he did not use that to obtain his citizenship)

The problem is can he bring his passport to replace the birth certificate?
If not, could you please give some suggestion?
Does anyone go through this before?

I answered this one just yesterday - Initial interview is how they call the AOS interview... for MOST people this interview itself will be conclusive, however, some cases may require additional interview.

As for the BC, I do not know if there is an alternative to it. They do ask you to bring it in the interview letter, but some people were never asked for it during the interview. But then there were those who were asked for it. Anyone else who had gone to the interview without the BC and was asked for it???

Btw, congrats with your interview call and good luck with preparation.

Passport/Naturalization certificate could be used instead of BC to show proof of US Citizenship (I assume copies of passport/natz certificate were submitted with the I-130?)

Does that mean all I need to do is to wait for my GC from the mail if I nail the interview?

Yes! I didn't bring the BC when I had my interview, so they asked me to mail it to them ASAP. But the buzz was about MINE (applicants) BC.

I think what they ment, is for your hubby to bring his proof of citizenship such as BC. MB they assumed his a native born. So, don't forget to bring the naturalization certificate and his american passport. That should be enough. I wouldn't worry about your hubby's BC, my spouse didn't bring one
as well (he lost it quite a long time ago). He just showed his am. passport.

Oh yeah! One final piece of advice — bring every copy of everything you have sent with the application. I found out they lost my BC copy, right on the interview. So, prepare!

Yep! After the interview the adjudicating officer will most likely tell you if you are approved. A common practice in the past had been to stamp the passport if the applicant is approved. However of late a lot of people reported that the officer didn't stamp the passport and told the applicant that she/he was approved and that she/he 'd receive the GC in mail shortly.

So yes, if you get approved during the interview, all you gotta do is hang in there n wait for your GC in the mail :)
