I agree with you Divekar. Career change is not something that cannot be ruled out. On the other hand this is the scary part.

There is nothing virtually to stop moving of software jobs off-shore(to any country).
Lets say we would have a law that would prevent importing of foregin developed software modules, I doubt if it would be sufficient to stop bringing in of software modules or sorcecodes from overseas, because it is not something that can be stoped by a customs officer at the port of entry. Same thingwould be true, incase the goverment choose to impose heavy tariff on the foreign imported source code(like the tariff on imported steel). They can be transmitted as easy as text contents of e-mail messages.
