An important H1-B validity question

Folks,

Here;s what happened ...

I joined Co. A in March '99 ( my visa with A was valid till 11/1/2001). I left A and joined B in Dec '2000 ( by transferring the visa). Now B closed down and I lost my job on Feb 8 th. 2001.

Neither A nor B had yet cancelled my H1-B. A re-hired me back and showed my hiring date as 02/26/2001 and in reality ...my first day with them was 3/26/2001.

Now ...from Feb 8 till Feb 18 .. I wasn't really "working" for anyone .....was I out of status at that point of time ???

In general ....how many days can an individual be without ANY job and still be considered "in status" ?


Any comments higly appreciated.

If you were not payed from 2/26/2001 to 3/26/2001, then include that days also as 'out of status'.
