American immigration question?

How does American Immigration law treat minors who are legal aliens (Green Card holders) and left the U.S. with their parents for over one year?

- Parents have returned to the U.S. before the end of the one year and applied for Citizenship.

-Does U.S. law have any special treatment, allowance or exemption for the dependants who were 15 and 11 years of age when they left the US with their parents in 2009?

I look forward to your answers. When possible, please provide me with hot links for supporting data and sources. Thanks.

They have to apply for a Returning Resident visa at a consulate in order to restore their green card and reenter the US as permanent residents. Either that, or after the parents obtain citizenship they can reapply for new green cards for the children. However, although the parents returned within a year, they may be denied citizenship if they stayed abroad for over 6 months.
