Amending EB2 to EB3

Did anybody amended EB2 to Eb3 and applied for 7th year extension.
My employer applied for my EB2 labor in perm in july 2005 and it is still in process. My 6yrs of h1 is coming to an end soon. so company offered to get 7th year extension on pre-approved eb3 by amending eb2 to eb3 after we get approval or denial on eb2 case. Did anybody ever been in similar situation
Any insight is appreciated.

Explain clearly. If they have an approved labor why do they want it amend it?
Pending case and approved cases are not related ar all. Leave pending case as it is.

Thank you very much for responding to my issue.
As the company currently has a EB2 labor (which presents me as a sr. analyst) that they have applied in PERM in july 2005 and is still pending, the company lawyer says that, it could become as a fraud case in future, if the company uses the EB3 pre-approved labor (that presents me as analyst). Does that make sense. Is that true?
Any insight into this is highly appreciated.
