i came to the US in 2013 and I got my 10 year green card in april of 2017. same year in july i was supposed to file for my citizenship because i have been with my US spouse for more than 3 years but the unexpected happened, i got arrested for receiving a stolen goods in my name and shipping it for the fellow. the goods came from out of state. I had to travel for 3 days in and out for court and i did that for a year finally my lawyer asked me to take a deal for petty offense charge. he told me about the petty offense exception and how it will help me with my immigration status so i accepted it. i was not put on any probabation but i was asked to pay the money that was used in buying the roofing. my question is can i go ahead and file for my citizenship now that the case is over and me going to court is over? or do i have to wait for a number of years before i can now file for my citizenship?

I would wait if I were you! You need to demonstrate GMC for atleast 5 years leading up to you filing. The fact that you plead guilty shows you are not of good moral.

USCIS will use it against you and even if the IO suggest an approval. Which I can say with 90 % certainty they won't. Still has to get approval from a supervisor. Which in turn can deny the application as well. Your chances are slim if you file now.

Wait 5 years minimum. To file. The longer you wait. The better your chance of success
