Hello Everyone,

I am a newbie to this forum. I believe my credentials might be good for EB1-OR. But currently I do not have a permanent job nor will my current employer sponsor my EB1-OR application. So I am thinking about self-petitioning for EB1-A and would like some of the experienced members to please provide their inputs. Here are my credentials:

Ph.D and M.S from US and B.Tech. from India
Working as a Post-Doc at a US State University
(All US universities are with among top 20 research institutions in the field).

Research Activities: I have worked on projects funded by US Department of Agriculture (USDA) and National Science Foundation (NSF). None of these proposals were written by me. But I worked to complete the project and published the results in peer-reviewed papers.

Proposals Funded: 1 by state of Ohio, 1 by NSF, and 1 by an Industry.

Professional Memberships: Members of Sigma Xi and a member of 3 more international professional organizations (no strict selection criteria).

Awards:
2 International level fellowships for graduate research (one of them is given to 15 best graduate students per year in my profession and other to just 2 graduate students....both open to international applications).
University Presidential award for research (Given to about 60 students in a year out of 6000 graduate students....dont know if this counts)
4 awards total for best research paper and presentation at international conferences.
4 more university awards.

Judging Experience: Reviewed 4 papers for three journals thus far.

Publications: 1 Patent, 7 peer-reviewed papers, 2 submitted for review, 3 more in preparation, 4 book chapters, and 20 international conference presentations - all of them as 1st author.

Citations:
around 100 (not including self citations)

Request for scientific information/abstracts:
About 10 people dropped off their Business cards after my presentation at an international conference asking for a copy of my presentation. One email request for more information on my papers and said my papers were "particularly helpful".

Articles about my research:
2 articles in scientific trade journals describing my research papers not my accomplishments. Both do mention my name and has one quote of an interview me.

Recommendation Letters (expected): at least 10 - about 4 from known people and remaining from independent scientist and professionals (including 1 from Government Scientist and 4 international).

Would I qualify for EB1-EA?

I appreciate your help.

Thank you!

IMHO you have a good chance of getting your EB1-EA approved. Both field contribution and scholarly articles combined with work of judge of others and citations make you eligible.

However, what I learned in this whole process was that applying through an experienced lawyer helps a lot, as they help you package your work and present them in the best possible way.
