Am I a US Citizen?

Hi, I just came across this awesome website while doing some research about my situation. Here's the facts:
I was born on July 1979, the eldest of five brothers,currently married with 2 kids;
Father was an American citizen at time of birth (stated on birth certificate) BUT only naturalized in 1978, however, I know that he was living in the States for quite a while before that, having served in the US Navy;
My mom was naturalized in June 1991;
Also, I have been to the States way back in 1986-88, studied there, was issued a green card, but had to go back to the Philippines and havent been able to return since.

Can I still claim US citizenship? If there's one thing I regret, that would be letting go of that green card, however,certain family issues back then prevented it. My dad passed away back in 1999 and never got around to working on our family's citizenship. All four of my brothers are already in the US, having immigrated before turning 21; my mom has been living there since 1986. From what I read, the green card route looks like a dead end. Any advice would be helpful, thanks!

Were your parents married when you were born? Was your dad physically present in the US (including time in the military) for 10 years (in any status) before you were born?

Yup they were already married when i was born. Im not sure how long he was in the US before that,still waiting to hear back from some relatives. If so, how do i go about proving it?

It's not easy to prove. You have to just amass as much evidence of his time in the US as you can. Things like school records or job records are good for showing a period of time. Other appointments, etc. show he was there on a specific date. Old passports might help but US citizens are often not stamped upon entering the US. Because there are going to be gaps in the record, you should be prepared to present evidence for more than 10 years. It might be difficult finding the evidence after so much time has passed, especially since he's not around anymore.
