i just discovered that in the form i sen t to kcc: the year of birt h of my mum is different from that on my birth certificate. will i be disqualified during mytime of interview. pls what can i do now.

Which document is true? If the birth year on DS form is wrong and it is of your simple mistake when you filled out the form, I don't think it is serious, but you need to send correction. Write documents in which you should clearly mention the field of DS form to be corrected. Then send it with a photocopy of your birth certificate to US Embassy/Consulate or KCC.
If your CN is not current (current in July or later), KCC still handles your case and you have to send it to KCC ASAP.
If your CN is current in June and KCC has already assigned the date and place of interview, plan to send it to Embassy/Consulate where you are to take the interview. But I guess your case files might be on the way now. If your documents would arrive at the place of interview earlier than arrival of your case files sent from KCC, it could be problematic. I think it is safer to drop the correction into a post box so that it arrives 7-14 days before the date of interview.
