As I posted in other threads, awaiting name check clearance for my wife.

apart from that it was ok.

give me a day or two. Don't expect anything significantlly different from what other's have posted, hence not posted yet.

Alren - when is the name check clearance done? Who does it? Is it done by NVC or the consulate in India??

If yours is a regular CP process then NVC does it (name check) and if it AC-140 case then the American Consulate in India does it.
Hope this clears your doubt.

Thanks Vm.. that does clear my doubt.. mine is a regular CP case .. in which case it will be handled by NVC..
 
Not necessary. I'm regular CP case. So don't bank on it completely that you might not hit the name check.

The name check is done by the FBI on the request of the state dept.

From the above post you should conclude that even though everythings goes perfect still there could be problems.

Name check pending for the spouses happened earlier also so.....

Please forgive me for my ignorance. I am actually new to the thread.

1). Are you saying that one can get stuck in India while doing CP because the Indian consulate has to do a "Name Check"??

2). Are you in India and waiting for your wife's name check to be done? If yes, have they told how much time it is going to take??

Um! I'm not quite stuck. I'm enjoying my vacation and my stay at my home.

1) - Yes
2) - I'm in India waiting, but not stuck as of yet. They said a week.
