My daughter has a USA passport. Is it necessary to apply for N600?

I have a 10 year old daughter and I did not apply for N600. Is it necessary to apply for N600 for my daughter? She already has a USA passport. Please advise me. Appreciate your help.

Thanks,

It is not a requirement to obtain a certificate of citizenship for your child. However depending on your tolerance to perceived risks, you might feel the need to get one.
I presume your daughter was born outside US and derived citizenship from her naturalized parents.

Some [conservative] states may spontaneously decide that they do not want to accept the US passport as a proof of citizenship - then having the certificate of citizenship will be a very good asset. Texas has tried this but was sued and backed off. It may happen again. With the Tea Party candidates slowly creeping toward power, I would get as many citizenship documents as possible. Sorry to go a little bit off-topic.

It is best to file in N-600 for your daughter and document her citizenship status. Although the US passport is more than sufficient as evidence, it is best to have a certifictae of citizenship also. Who knows when the legal system changes? The certificate of citizenship may help your daughter and her generation in the future. There is no harm in getting it, so why don't you apply for it?

N600 question help - PART 2: Information about your eligibility.

Recently naturalized and I would like to apply N600 for child (10 years age). Under part 2 section, there are four check boxes
A B C D

And I selected A of (X) an alien parent(s) who naturalized.

Do I need to select B ?

PART 2: Information about your eligibility

A) I am claiming U.S. Citizenship through

A US. Citizen father or A US. Citizen mother
Both US. parents
A US citizen adoptive parent
An alien parent(s) who naturalized

B) I am US citizen parent applying for a Certificate of Citizenship on behalf of
Minor child (under 18 years age) BIOLOGICAL child.

Part 3 :

10. Have you been absent from the United states since you first arrived?

Is this for my daughter, right? Do I need to select "YES" or "NO"

Do I need to mention if she goes to vacation trips to outside U.S.?

You need to check B of Part 2 as you are filing in N-600 on behalf of your child. And you need to list the trips made by your child out of the US - include all short trips also.
