The latest bill for CIRA (Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act) is being discussed in the Senate.
If it passes, the implications are dire for those who haven't filed for I-140 yet (that obviously includes everyone rotting in PBEC).
All who haven't filed for I-140 before the date of introduction of this bill (May 21st, 2007) will have to file fresh applications in the new point based system. The current application will go down the drain.
The new merit based system may not be in effect for 2-4 years. Meanwhile, the H1B visa will not be renewable.
