What is the alien number - Is it assigned after you file I-485?

I got my approval notice for I-140 EB1-EA a few days back and it has an A# (9 digits) under the Beneficiary heading. Is this the one I should use for my 485 application?

Can anyone here with approved I-140 confirm?

You are correct. Your alien registration number (sometimes called "A number") is the nine-digit A-XXX-XXX-XXX number that you see. You may also have seen this same number on your initial I-140 USCIS receipt that you got back when you filed.
