Alien number begins with "T"

Hello:

Does INS allot two alien numbers for the same person? My first courtesy copy of FP/EAD/AP had a alien number begining with "A" ie., A123456 but my second FP notice has an alien number begining with "T" but the other numbers are the same. Will these two cause problems in my 485?

Hi hariA,

Only one alien number is assigned. I would not worry too much about
the number starting with T. It appears to be a computer glitch in
their system.

Hi,hariA

My 3rd FP have same things as yours..... My 1st and 2nd was fine.
Alien number begins with "T"

I asked my attorney and he said "You better go to Laguna Nigel office to find out the reason why you\'ve got a "T" begining of INS#A on your 3rd FP".
He also inform me the address of Laguna Nigel office and gave me a advice "Plant to spend a whole day over their..."
What a NICE answer! Now I feel little insecure again.

When I saw this "T" in my 3rd FP, I thought it must be a typo, but now I know there are some other people have same things. I would doubt there must be a reason for it?

Any comments?

Thanks in advence!

I called up a IIO (a lousy one though - she did not even know how to check the FP result using the A# - said her system does not show). But she told me that "T" stands for "temporary" and that it is issued sometimes and not to worry about it.

I have already done my FP with the first notice using an alien number begining with A123... which has not been entered into the INS system after 4 weeks. Now I get another FP notice with another Alien number. How can i not worry about it - INS generally has troubel if things are in order but introduce a small confusion and imagine the possiblities.

Ciba: thanks for your response. It might not be something to worry about but a lot of people are getting this and i am sure this will cause quite a confusion. The same was posted a while back (doing a search on "alien") but none have a good answer. Another person had said that the ASC had told them that it does not matter if A123 or T123 since they just use the 123.

I will mostly do the second FP so that if there are two alien numbers then FP will be done under both.

If any of you find an answer please let me know.

Thanks

Hi hariA,

It is indeed a good idea to have your finger prints taken again if
you are really worried. In fact, some lawyers always advise their
clients to redo the finger prints in response to the second notice.
This is a more conservative approach (dealing with INS, you can
never be too conservative enough!).

Please keep us all posted.

I think there may be a glitch with some of the fingerprint notices coming out. I got my first fingerprint notice 2 months ago and it started with an "A". I just received a second notice starting with a "T" and also noticed that the date it was sent to my lawyer is showing as Jan/01 1900!
