Friends,

I spoke to IIO today morning at 8.05 am.
When she asked my A#, and verify my first name last name.. based on the A# what she had on system was different. Then I told my receipt number, based on that, she picked up me on the system and told that the A# is mistyped, it should read as.. bla bla.. because there is a typo err instead of 9 for 0.

Now the question is my EAD is based on the A number in Receipt notice. My receipt date is Oct 1st. I filled my I-9 with this A #. do I need to change my I-9 with new A#? she also said, they will not send new notice with the corrected A#? If i go for renew at local boston office, which A# i should use..

it is confusing. pleas give your suggestion/experience please.

I guess when you go to local INS office you can ask them to track your records based on your receipt number. They will be able to get your correct A#. You can explain things to them and request them to update their records. Since this was a typo error from INS side which you were not aware until now it's not your fault.
However as you know it now, it is your responsibility to let them know about it and get it corrected. I'm not sure what to do on the I-9 file that you had already filed. Best thing is you can call INS local office and check with them.

Since I-9 is for the employer to keep your record up to date, once u get the correct A#, u can change that in form I-9 and send it to your employer again.

one more question

with the receipt notice, i received EAD from boston local office last nov 2001. In EAD also the they printed A# as in receipt notice? Would they verify when we apply for EAD at local office in the system? they just print as we filled in the application? Please give your comments..
