Can someone confirm this is typical. I thought finger prints were only
a month or two after filing.
 
Waiting 6 months for finger printing is very unusual. We applied N-400 on 07/17/06 and my wife was finger printed today(08/07). But I am still waiting for my receipt notice yet! Both the applications were sent in one envelop.

So, I think it is different for everyone.
