Can anyone here elaborate on what exactly is an AILA inquiry and why would a lawyer refuse to do that? Thanks

Luiz,

For a lawyer to file an AILA inquiry his/her firm needs to be a member of AILA. From what my lawyer told me, AILA has a liaison within each Service Center. When a member lawyer or firm requests an inquiry through AILA, they get in touch with the liaison and get updates from him/her.

It may be possible that your lawyer is not part of AILA otherwise they should not have any problems going through AILA. Another thing that my lawyer told me was that AILA inquiries are reserved for only long delayed or problem cases. I have had to go through AILA several times because mine has been a problem case.

Hope this helps.
