hi, i wondered about this too. seems to me they did have some other kind of background check. it occured to me before i was offered postion at my new company. they did all kind of backgound check. they mainly check every location you have lived in last 5 years(remember INS asked for addresses in last 5 years), and DMV etc. the good thing about the employment backgroubd check is that you can ask for a copy of the check results. i just receieved one copy a few days ago. they actually checked a lot of things. seems to me different local agencies keep very good records about the info you submitted to banks, credit card companies, emplorment history etc.. i was kind of surprised that they have checked out so much( 15 pages!), thank god my records were nearly perfect so far. lol... i learned a lesson from this check though, never lie in this country!! lol

my current company is pretty big one. my new company is a pre IPO company but is pretty much established because it is a venture formed by 3 huge companies and most people are from one of the big companies so they do things by the parent company\'s way.

yeah. they condcut tough background check because the company is engaged on things such as encryption etc.

Ok, it makes sense with the nature of your company, my understanding is that startup companies generally don\'t do checking stuff

some of them don\'t, some of them do as i know. i interviwed with a few startups not long ago. 3 out of 4 did background checks.

no , i accept an offer.. not started yet, will start in 2 weeks. i planned to start after my case reaches 180 days. but now i don\'t care anymore. but i still will use my vacation to reach 180 days.
