After this approval mail when can I expect my plastic !!

Folks, I received this approval e-mail Sept 01, 2006.

On September 1, 2006 after approving your application we ordered you a new card. Your card will be mailed to you as soon as it is ready.

So now my question is when exactly can I expect to see my plastic handy after this e-mail from NSC???

I have a feeling it's about a week or two max. Am I right? Need your opinion.

Atique,

I don't think your card is ready yet. The current message should change to below message within few days:

"...the card order was completed and we mailed the applicant's new card directly to him or her. If 30 days have passed and you have not received this card, you may wish to verify or update your address..."

I recently received my replacement card, I initially received the same message like the one you posted. Three days later, the message changed to the one I posted above.

Nevertheless, you should receive your card within two weeks.

cchong, I don't think that happens at all times. Cause I have seen many other members who just received the mail message like mine & received their plastic. As we all know how USCIS process everything !! Wish they follow a standard procedure that way it could have been lot easier for us applicants to guess what's next. But as you said what ever procedure they follow I should be receiving plastic within a week/two.
Man waiting for this green baby for the last 13 years. I don't even know how I'm gonna react after getting that in hand. May be I'll pass out.
It's kind of reminding me the joy that I felt after getting the US visa back in 14 yrs back. I'm from a third world country & US visa isn't very easy to get.

I hope that you receive your gc (the plastic card) very soon. The USCIS will send your gc in a plain white envelop, do not mistake the mail for a credit card offer and throw that away.

I don't know how you will behave when the card arrive. For me, I did not do or behave anything different.

I was very glad that I do not need to deal with this gc thing for awhile, but when I received my replacement card couple weeks ago I actually did not behave any differently than my normal day. I made sure all the info printed on the gc is correct, I then placed the gc in my drawer. I did celebrate my gc approval though when I first got my I-485 application approved in April. That was a big deal.

When I get my G/C, no feeling at all as I waited for 10 years. Then after a few days, I feel sweet in my heart. It is totally different feeling whie you step on US's land. Well, you are belong to this piece of land.
