After the interview at SF center - no case status update or anything in the mail from MSC

Hi everyone!

I had a question about receiving updates in the mail and checking the case status online. This is for my Marriage-based GC interview at the San Francisco office. My service center is Missouri MSC.

I had my interview for marriage based GC on May 27th. The interview was short and went very well. The IO said that everything was in order, though I needed to have my dr resend USCIS my medical reports again as the dr had missed some fields on the medical form. The IO said many dr's were missing some fields on the recently updated forms. The IO then gave me a form which said that I needed the medical examination resent and which also had the "Further review" box checked. The IO said I should get something in the mail within 10 days of USCIS getting the new medical report.

I immediately went and had my dr resend the medical report with everything filled out. The USCIS acknowledged the receipt of the new fully filled medical form on June 2nd.

It is June 18th today and I have not received anything in the mail yet. The online USCIS case tracker hasn't been updated in months and still shows my case as having been on the "Accepted on March 17th" stage, even though I've already done the finger printing and the interview. Calling the 1-800 number for status updates says the same thing, that I applied on March 17th and that a letter was mailed to me regarding finger printing.

Do you know why I haven't gotten anything in the mail yet, or why the online status tracker hasn't updated at all? I wonder if this is a bad thing, or if the San Francisco field office [or the Missouri Process Center MSC] is taking longer than usual to send out mails after the interviews?

Thanks!

I think u will be OK if u intrview went well. Dont sweat the online tracker, its broken and randomly updates if ever. I was naturalized in jan 2010, and my onle status still says application rcvd status. :( read the last 1-2 pages of march filers thread as smbdy had same medical form problem and received same under reveiw form as u, after intrvw, i think it was ca_guy/

so relax!! (try to!)

Hi there! Thanks for letting me know. I really appreciate it!

A question: the IO kept my I-94. Does that mean anything, like accepted or something? Do they always keep the I-94 or do they keep it when they have made a decision?

Thanks!

Hi John,

To share with you - I sponsored my wife and after our interview, which happened early this month, her I-94 was taken by the officer though no approval yet. Her case is different than yours as she has two adjustment of status at the same time (the one from employer was cancelled). I understand that as the decision for GC is near, it is part of the interviewer routine to collect I-94. I share your worry and frustation of the wait (uncertainty). One other thing, the officer gave us a letter instructing us follow up with infopass if 30 days passed - without decision.

exactly same thing happnd to me, after interview was told wud receieve a mail in 30 days, kept I94. Got my GC prodn email the very next day much to our relief!! So if there is any pattern the as per my reading on this forum, if they keep ur I94 = Approval.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate the info. Makes me feel better and more relaxed.

A question: lpram, did you get any GC production email? Is your online case status showing any updates?

singh57, I just signed up for online email/mobile alerts. Do you think I would still get any updates from before? Does your online case status show GC in production? I wonder if I will get any email status updates from before or from now on, even if the online case status hasn't updated in months.

Any other info or help [from others too] would help too! Thank you.

John - there is no update on my wife case status. I am preparing myself for a long wait in addition to series of future follow ups.

Went for an Infopass today and was told that my case is now in the "Decision Area" which means they have all my paperwork and received the response I sent to the RFEs they requested after my AOS interview. The officer told me that I will hear from them "soon". He was not authorized to tell me how long it will take but he did say that having my case in the "Decision Area" is a good thing.

Documents received at the Chicago LockBox: Mar 23,2010
Interview Date: June 7,2010. Decision:"Pending-Further Review"
RFE received by mail: June 9,2010
Response to RFE via Fedex Overnight: June 11,2010 (receipt acknowledged)

lpram, thanks! Why do you think they will make you follow up more with interviews? Or did you mean you may have to keep checking in order to find out where your GC [or status] is?

And thanks gcmarch2010, I really appreciate that info & your help! Let's see how long it takes, maybe this week will be it!

Got the Card Production ordered email and status was updated on the website

Hi everyone,
My GC was just ordered today. Not sure if my Infopass appointment yesterday did the trick or not. Hope everyone gets their card soon!!
Thanks!

I just had my InfoPass today. Just got back from the appointment. I had to wait about 40 minutes I think, took a while. The lady who saw me was very serious and got rid of me within 3 minutes. She checked her computer with my receipt # and said that my case is in the "decision stage." I told her about the online status not updating in months and her exact words "I couldn't care less about the online status because that's nationwide. I'm looking at this office's status." So I just left with that info.

I just got home and saw I had a letter waiting telling my wife [the USC] that her petition for me [I-130] has been approved! It said:

"The above petition has been approved. The person this petition is for [Me] will be notified separately when a decision is reached on his or her pending adjustment of status application [my I-485]."

Did you also get the I-130 approval letter separately and before the I-485 approval? So this surely means I'm approved, right? I should just wait for the other approval [for the I-485] now? :) I hope it comes soon!

Hey all!

Just wanted to update and say that I'm still waiting for any news on I-485, I-765 [EAD] and I-131 [travel approval]. I already received I-130 [wife petitioning for me] approval. it has been over 3 months since initial filing, and almost 2 months since May 27th interview. As I mentioned, the IO had given me a letter saying "I-75" form info, which he said was for me to resubmit my medical documents which I did on June 2nd with receipt acknowledgment. Since then, no news.

Does it sometimes take this long? Is it normal to not receive anything on the work authorization or travel permit in the meantime? The InfoPass people simply told me to wait 60-120 days after the interview. Calling the 1-800 number simply results in the phone people reading the USCIS online status, which hasn't updated since March 17th. gcmarch2010 suggested I make another InfoPass appt, so will be making that today.

Any suggestions or tips from anyone, or any ideas on what may be going on?

You should be ok since ur RFE was on medical report not anything else core to your case.
what was the date on the form u got after the interview which had send RFE by date...

mine was on july 1st and decision was made on june 29th.

Did IO take your I-94.... ?normally is a good sign.

My guess is they either still working on your case or decision has been made but they havent updated the online tracker.

Yes, the IO took my I-94. :)

Also, today got a letter in the mail saying:

"The record shows an updated fingerprint submission is needed." They scheduled me for an appointment this Friday, so I'll go and have that done. The letter also has 3 boxes:

Code 1, FP only
Code 2, Biometric only
Code 3, FP & Biometric

In the letter, Code 3, FP & Biometric is the one that's checked.

Have any of you gotten a 2nd or "updated fingerprint submission" notice? Would this be good news?

Seems like a good step - maybe the original fingerprinting weren't complete or something.

Thanks

UPDATE: Got my GC today, August 5th! :)

Process: After my last post above, I went to the Oakland fingerprinting office & they told me they can't take my fingerprints since I already took them. I said what about the letter? They told me to ignore the letter and that it was mailed in error. Oakland officer told me my case is already approved! I was surprised and he said to simply wait for my GC or letter in the mail.

I went to the SF fingerprinting office & they said they won't do it either. So I just came back home without fingerprinting.

Went to InfoPass on 27th & they said same thing: i've been approved & to ignore the letter, and also to contact them after 60 days if I don't get anything.

August 2nd: got a txt msg & an email from the online USCIS tracker saying my GC [I-485] has been approved & that they've mailed me the notice on August 2nd. Online status tracker updated too.

August 5th: Got GC in the mail today! :D Very happy!

To anyone reading this & wanting info or help: Please post to these forums or ask anyone here. I've gotten extremely good, useful and stress-avoiding advice from everyone here, including all the above people! If I had not come to these forums, I would have surely speculated a lot and spent months worried wondering what is going on.

Thanks again everyone! :) :D
