After RFE, do you also need to be interviewed in local office?

My friend got an RFE for his NIW-based I-485 (ask for current EVL [he never changes job], 2003 W-2, and recent 6 month pay stubs). His lawyer told him that he may also be interviewed at the local office. That really scared him. Anyone has such bad luck please give advice.

RFE and interviews have no known correlation.

If his case is not simple ( I don't think NIW cases are simple), it might need an interview to ascertain facts.

If his paperwork is clear, then interview is not bad luck at all ... atleast its a guaranteed date for his approval :)
