After receiving green card and I-9 form?

After getting the plastic card, my employer asks me to fill out I-9 form. Does anybody know why?

I got EAD card sometime last year, but never had a chance to use it.

Please read the instruction and purspose of the I-9 form you will get the clear answer

if you dont have the form search the net and u will get it from INS site.

Your employer is required by law

They keep it only in their record and it seems that they don\'t have to send it to any government department. It just shows the status of the employee and in case of an INS audit, your status is on record.

You don\'t have to show your GC card, if you have applied and received your updated SSN card

Fill out the new form since it is required any way. However, if you have applied and received your updated SSN card, then you can use it together with your state id or drivers license (incase you are hesitant to show your GC, if..).
