After Oath

Completed my oath on Jan 12th 2007.

* Applied for US Passports and got them

* Updated SSN details in Social Security office

* Applied for Indian PIO cards

* Voter Registration (still pending, will do it soon)

Just wondering what other tasks I need to take care of?

What did you update in the Social Security office? Can you give me some details?

Walk into a Social Security office. Bring your Natz cert and/or passport, your social security card and some other form of ID (like a drivers license). Take a number and wait. When they call your name, tell the person you talk to "I recently became a citizen and I'm told I should let you folks know". A couple of hundred key clicks later all is well

If you still have the "not valid for employment" notation on your social security card, fill in the "application" to replace your card while you are waiting. The person will take your old card, shred it, give you a receipt that you can use as proof of an SSN. Your new card will show up a week or two later.
