After naturalization interview

I posted this on another forum but got no responses. I feel this forum is so much smarter :)

I had my naturalization interview two weeks ago. At the end I got two forms.
One was N-652, stating that I passed tests of English and U.S. history and government. Box "Please follow the instruction on the Form N-14" is checked. And it also says: a decision cannot yet be made about your application.

Another form (no name, could be N-14?) has a checked box: No further action on your part is required at this time. Upon receipt of the below checked boxes, your application can be acted upon: Other: ADMIN.

The officer at the interview said that there was a problem with my name check. (I don't have any criminal records...)

So some questions:
1. is this second form N-14 form? At the bottom it only has "WR-821" (ELM) (On the back there are many different check boxes for required documents like taxes, birth certificate etc.)

2. What does ADMIN mean? Did anybody have a similar N-652?

3. How long does it usually take to go through the name check?

Thank you very much for your answers!

Name check

N400la,

I don't have answers to your questions, but let me share my story with you. I was interviewed at Philadelphia on August 26, 2003 and was only given N-652 with check marks on a) You passed the tests of English and U. S. history and government, and b) Your application has been recommended for approval.

Recently, I visited Philadelphia office again, where I was told that they are waiting for name check clearance. The lady did not divulge any details about what and how this is done. After visiting this forum, I realized thay many are waiting for this name check clearance and one could take following actions to possibily expedite the process:
1. Call/fax FBI and ask for the status update (I have done both).
2. Send letter to the Interview Officer to keep the file active (Not done this yet).
3. Involve your Congressman and have him write/talk to CSIS (Not done this yet).

In my opinion, this could be just a administrative delay because someone is not doing their job properly. Like you, I also don't have any record(s), not even a parking ticket in last 10 years......it is a very frustating and long wait.

Good luck!

redkarr1,

thank you for your message!

Needless to say it scared me a lot - your wait is almost a year... I plan to send a letter to FBI and my interview officer as soon as 120 day period mentioned on my N-652 has passed. For now I will need a lot of patience.

Good luck and hope you'll get your citizenship soon!

Hi,
I dont recall the form #, however from the description I think I got the same one which said that I had passed the English language/US history test and no further action is required on my part. My letter mentioned that they would get back to me within 120days at the bottom.

I was however told that a decision would be made after reviewing my student visa app which was not in the file that the lady had (included hi, green card and citizenship apps). Not sure if this is equivalent to a name check or a general chk to make sure the docs are ok.

Appreciate your comments if any on my situation.
Regards

N-14 is just a request for info/request for evidence. I doubt if you should encounter problems.
My other form that I got looks exactly like a request for additional info/evidence with none of the boxes checked...
