Hello All
I have a question related to filing for EAD/AOS:
I am hoping to get my labor cleared in the next few months,and if i file for I-140 and I-485 and the EAD till what stage can i add someone onto my application?
I am currently single,and wanted to find out till what latest stage can i add future spouse to the application.Currently i understand that if u file for the 3rd stage one can't add a person to the application,but am not sure how it works with concurrent filing.

You can apply for your spouse BEFORE your I-485 is adjudicated, which is taking two years after filing these days.

Thanks for the reply.Does this mean that I can get a EAD and use it and apply for I-485 but getting the EAD does not mean that i can't add someone to the process.In other words what is the relation between I-485,and the EAD.?

If your future spouse is in US, you can use EAD, your status will become adjustee once you use EAD, and you can get married and file I-485 for your spouse.
Just applying and getting the EAD is OK, only using it will change your status.

But if he/she is out of USA, its better to get married while on H1B, so that your spouse can get H4 (takes few weeks) and come to US. After that you can use EAD, and apply for his/her 485.

If you use EAD before getting married, your status will be adjustee, your spouse won't be able to get H4. You'll have to wait till you get your GC to apply for him/her. And then it takes ages for the spouse of a GC holder to be approved.

Relation between EAD and 485?
EAD is filed on the basis of pending 485.
