My wife and I went for interview at the Washington District Office. The case is now being reviewed with a recommendation to approve.

The interviewing officer tried to calm our worries by telling us that we should hear something within a couple weeks. I've heard of cases under review that sit for months at a DO before a final decision is issued, and the letter we were given says we can't even check the status for 120 days. That doesn't sound good to me

My wife's EAD expires on June 2, 2006. I'm wondering if we will need to submit an application for a renewal.

the officer should have told you exactly what she meant by review. Is it because she is new and she needs her supervisor to look at it again and give her a go ahead to finally approve?

or did she ask you for more information to be submitted?if she did not give u form I-72..i do not think it will take time,u may be suprised to see your approval e-mail within the next week...hang in there.

The officer didn't give us a specific reason except to say that "all of their cases are under review." The letter he gave us with the reason the case was continued was checked "Other - Review" So there's no RFE and no pending name check. It's just that a supervisor has to sign off on it.

jsnearline, Congratulations on your successful interview. Hopefully, your case will be approved soon.

Did you go to Washington DC/Fairfax VA office? Could you please post your timeline? I live in Northern VA and am planning to apply for my parents' GC.

Thanks

Yes our interview was at the Fairfax office. Here's our timeline:

March 17, 2005 - filed via the Chicago Lockbox
April 7, 2005 - Biometrics done in Wheaton MD
November 12, 2005 - Interview Notice Received
January 30, 2006 - Interview Washington District Office

YOU ARE FREAKING ME OUT....

i have waited for so long to get to this point and get my gc, and now that i have an interview scheduled just a few days away, i am reading about FBI checks, hold-ups, etc.?!

Who is the FBI checking? The US citizen or the foreign national? Someone said they have had it since 2001 in the rewiew?! What the heck?

FBI name checks are conducted on the foreign national applicant after they submit their application. Most of the time, these checks are completed within a few days, but they if not, they can cause delays.
