After I-485/I-551 Approval??

After my I-485/I-551 Approval, Do I need to join my sponsoring employer OR can I use AC21 Portability so that there is no need to join my sponsoring employer bcos already, I worked with my sponsoring employer for 4 years before joining to new employer, My previous employer filed my I-140 after I moved to new employer, they will also file for I-485 also but my previous employer is saying that after I-485/I-551 approval, I must join them.
So pl.let me know if somebody knew or came acorss such situation
