After I-130

Hi there,

I filed an I-130 for my spouse a week ago. I have a couple of questions.

1) How long does it approximately take to receive an I-797?

2) My husband is from Canada and has no problems with visiting me with his passport. Actually he commutes as a visitor. Should I file a K-3 visa or an I-485? He wants to work in the States ASAP (self-employed).

3) As soon as I receive an I-797, I will have my husband file an I-765 since he wants it eagerly. How long does it take to get a working approval? What if he get it before an approval of K-3 visa or I-485 (green card)? Should he wait for those approvals although he has a working permit?

Any kinds of advice will be appreciated.

It took me about a week to get my I-797. I think it will be quicker for you to get the K3 and then submit the I-765. (It takes about 5 or 6 months for the K3). I'm not sure how long work approvals take, probably 3 months.
