Hello All:
Greetings.

I am not sure whether this is a valid question, I heard about it, so, I wanted to clarify with the you all.

After getting GC, do I need to constantly getting paid with out break? I mean can I out of pay for let's say more than 6 months or even more? Does this gives any problems like that in Citizenship or anything like that? Any impact?

I think this is not correct, as long as you are here in US and paying even 0 taxes should be fine. Or is that I can't have 0 earnings when I file taxes?

Thanks for your inputs.

you can be unemployed the whiole time you have a green card ( eg a stay at home mother with a green card who minds children may never work outside the home ) but it very important to file your taxes every year even if you have no income . If you do not file taxes then you will probably have big problems when you go for citzenship as filing taxes is one of the pricnipal ways of showing you are serious about being a good citizen.

What in case if laid off by the sponsoring employer and can't find any job since that till applying for citizenship? Does that creat any problem?

It shouldn't be an issue. From what I understand, you can even choose to remain unemployed for the rest of your life, as long as you have the means to support yourself without drawing on any public funds.

I recently got a citizenship and was never asked anywhere on the form n400 about the LAST 5 years of employment BUT 3 years of past employment WAS asked.

Also NOWHERE during the whole process the past 5 years checked verbally. They only pulled a security background check by taking the finger prints.

Off course i'd file taxes regardless as that was asked on the form n400 application. However I doubt if that is also a must as NOONE can force you to work (the few lucky ones who could to live without a paycheck fro years in this world).

Job Change

Hello Everybody,

My employer sponsored me for a GC, and my wife and I received our GCs about 8 months ago (EB2; CP). Recently, we have both been thinking about making some changes, and I waondering if anybody could help advise me on our situation.

My wife would like to resign from her job and take some time off. Any issue with this, since her employer did NOT sposor her/us for the GC?

I am looking to change jobs and have a few interviews lined up. My primary motivation for leaving is that I seem to have "plateaued" at my present level within my firm (I am a Management Consultant). Since the industry isn't growing very fast now, it is much more difficult to get promoted than it was in the late '90s. The general motto in this industry is "Up or Out", although this is not written down anywhere. I have been in the same position for 3 years now, and I am worried that I might get "counselled out" during our next performance reviews (Nov./ Dec of this year). I am seeking a job in the pharmaceutical industry (which I specialize in) as a way of being proactive, as I would rather leave now than get cut and then have to scramble to look for another job. Is this an acceptable reason to change employers at this point: because I fear my career has plateaued, and I worry about losing my job because of this at some point in the future?

By the time I leave, I will have been employed with the sponsoring employer for about 9-9.5 months.

Thanks for all your help and advice.

Then Why are they NOT asking for the Pay checks ATLEAST one as proof in each Job AFTER the GC approval??

The background check is for any kind of criminal/terrorist connections NOT an employment checks.
