After AOS interview, stil waiting for visa number?

Hi,

I had my AOS interview about two weeks ago.

All went well at the interview. The officer said that he wasn't able to stamp my passport then, because he did not yet have a visa number from the State Department. He indicated that this would talk a couple of days, after which they would send me a letter asking me to come in for stamping. During the interview he also took my I-94 card.

Now two weeks have passed. There has been no change to the online status. I have no information about what is going on with my case. I also need to travel abroad on business. I have tried to use InfoPass to get an appointment to find out the status, but have not had any luck yet.

1) Can I travel, even after the officer took my I-94 card?

2) How long does it typically take to get a 'visa number' from the State Department?

3) How can I fix this?

Many thanks,

Mamoon.

PS. My interview was in the Manchester, NH local office. I am an EB3 applicant.

Did you have a valid AP before going to the interview? Did the officer take it away from you? If so, he should not have taken it, since you're not officially approved unill you get the stamp.

If you still have a valid AP, you can use it to travel,

Well, just got back from the INS office (my lawer called them to chase them up). Not sure what the hold up was, but my I-485 has been aproved and my passport has now been stamped.

Thanks :)

That's great! Congrats! Do you feel that you would not have gotten the approval this quick, if a follow-up had not been made?
