After a DV Interview

Hi all,

Just wanted to know after a DV interview goes smoothly and the officer tells you the visa is approved but they have to take the original documents to verify everything if this is considered AP? No form was given to the couple saying they were in AP or anything of the kind. They were just told to frequently check the website so as to know when to send their passports. (Officer asked them to leave the passports at the embassy but they said they had to return to their home country with them). Also could they ask for further documents at this point?

Yes it sounds like they are on AP. That sometimes happens because some paperwork is missing at the interview but that would have been made clear. AP also happens in some countries where they simply need to perform further checks. Given that it is so early during the year, this will hopefully just be a small delay for them.

Thanks for responding britsmon :)

I don't think anything was missing because the interviewer would have mentioned something, right? The interview in general went ok and the CO was nice and very chatty with the couple...even conducted the interview in Arabic! When they returned to the hotel they realized they didn't have the original documents (they thought they should have been returned to them) so they went back to the embassy claiming that the embassy lost their original documents. So they were allowed inside, met with the CO again and he told them, "No we need to keep these to verify some things and they will be sent with your passports". Verify what? He saw everything, said the visa was approved..what's left?

Yes, if something was missing you would have been given a paper stating what it was and how to get it to them.

Do you know if this experience is normal at that embassy? Perhaps there is a common problem with forged documents in your country? Or if some documents are from a different country they may not be familiar with them and therefore want to verify them. In any case, as long as your documents are genuine it doesn't sound like you have anything to worry about.
