Okay, a little about me.

I have been a GC holder since 1986 via marriage to a US Citizen. I have been in the US almost all of my life.

In 1990 I had a friend who joined an extreme right wing organization and invited me to join. Without thinking I joined too. Simply youthful ignorance, (I was 20 at the time) I never committed any crimes or anything illegal and have a clear record - except a few speeding tickets.

Years later that organization was placed on the "domestic terrorist" list.
My involvement in that organization was limited to a few conferences and I don't personally adhere to the ideals or values of that organization.

Fast forward to 2006. I now would like to be a Citizen.

Will I be denied?

Could my GC status be revoked? If so - what can happen after that?

Thanks for your help.

Interesting situation. There are quite a few people on this board who'll probably chime in and help you with advice, but I think you'll need to give the name of the group you were affiliated with to get any real advice that's helpful to your case. Afterall, there's a big difference in being a member of a Neo Nazi group and a Greek fraternity in college.

My advice is that you spend $150-200 and get an initial consultation with an immig. attorney. It's a small price to pay compared to the trouble you could get into during adjudication of your application. Remember, your whole immigration file and history are fare game during the N400 process.

Yeah, your situation is probably beyond the experience of anyone on this list. Somehow I expect that there is a way to remedy the situation (a sworn affadavit renouncing whatever they believe in or something like that).

You may find something in the regulations or in the field adjudicator's manual (which someone on this list knows how to find). We answered "Yes" to one of the questions that you look at and say "ha, who'd answer yes to that one" and it turned out to be completely benign once we read the corresponding regulation (something an immigration lawyer we consulted didn't realize until we pointed out the rule).

Someone here might be able to help, but you should talk to a lawyer anyway.

I'm not going to attempt to second-guess what the IO might do in this case, however I can point you to the appropriate section of the adjudicator's field guide dealing with this issue.

Most of the discussion in that guide pertains to someone who is or was "a member of or affiliated with the Communist Party or any other totalitarian party". Somehow I suspect neo-nazis, KKK and other extreme right wing groups might fall in this classification, but I'm no expert, so seek professional advice.

Thanks for everyone’s response.

Here is another question...

If I am found to be in violation of my permanent residence status because of my past affilation. (Again, I will say I never have committed a crime or anything like that but I think it's clear that in 2007 - you can be found guilty merely by association)
What can happen?

Can I be removed/deported?

My wife and children are Americans by birth, plus I have a thriving business employing many Americans.

Your opinions please.

Thanks,

20YearGC, check out my interview experience from the signature line. The IO did indicate to me that affiliations are not a problem at all as long as they are not banned outfits. In your case it sounds as if you were a member of one these banned outfits. As others suggested, this is something an experienced lawyer can only address. This is beyond the knowledge and experience of forum members.
