I want to invite my mother for visiting the US. I am a green-card holder and so is my husband. My mother is a widow; but has her son in India; plus she has good assets and property in India.
I know that I need to send affidavit of support for her visa appointment.
I donot work. My husband does. I have good bank balance (about $120,000) in a joint account between me and my husband.
In the affidavit of support - if I sponsor my mom - I can show this bank balance (which is more than sufficient to fund her trip). However, I will have to leave my employer section blank since I am a house-wife.
The other option is to have my husband file a affidavit of support for my mom; but he doesnot want to do it.
So my question is:
Is it ok for me to file the affidavit of support without a job in my name (but with sufficient bank balance)?
Has anybody done this?
