I am sponsoring my mother's greencard. My income is enough, and my husband is not a joint sponsor. I will also not use my mother's income. I am confused about how to respond to tax return questions, Because we file jointly but I will just use my income to sponsor.

In this case do my husband need to file an I-864A form or he does not have to fill anything because he is not co-sponsoring but we file jointly. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

No, your spouse does not need to complete an I-864A if your own individual income is sufficient.

However, I have heard that some consulates have been known to require I-864A even when it is not required.

Thank you very much! The thing is that we are adjusting my mom's status when she is in the US, so it is not through the Consular process. So, I am not sure if t hat would make any difference. or if needed, would they follow up with an RFE.
