Affidavit of support - PLEASE HELP

I am a student in the US and am engaged to a UK citizen. We are completely stumped as to how we can move along with our marriage. I am temporarily living in the UK with my fiance (on a study abroad program with my university), so we have decided to apply for an I-130. However, because I am a student, I do not have an income and cannot file an affidavit of support. I do not have anyone in the US who can co-sponser him for me, but he is currently employed and has saved up around $20,000. Can his income and savings be used without us first having to be married and living togetherfor 6 months? Are there any exceptions for students in these situations?

I will be having to return to the US within a couple of months and we were hoping to be married by then. If we are not, then we will file an I-129 F, but we will still be in the same position as we are in now... again, can his income/savings be used as a means of support for himself?

Anyone who has any information about this, please help!

Thanks!
Alexandra
