Affidavit of support (i-864)

Guys, I have a quick question regarding the sponsorship for I-485. I have just started working and its been about two months. My wife have been working last January 2015. We both did not work until that time. Are we eligible to sponsor my wife. We both have zero income on last three tax returns.

Thank you

As long as the current income is enough, that's what matters. You would include an employer letter (if possible) and as many pay stubs as possible to prove current income.

That means the tax return is not mandatory? Do you know what form actually we use (like i-864 or i-864ez)? Me and my wife actually both would like to show our income. can we both be the sponsor?
Thanks in advance for your help

You are required to attach the most recent year's tax return and provide the "total income" number from tax returns from the last 3 years, if you were required to file and filed. The only reason you can not have been required to file is if your income during that year is less than the threshold for filing (which is in the beginning of each year's Form 1040 instructions). If you did not file for one or more of those years because your income that year was below the threshold and so you were not required to file, according to the I-864 instructions, you attach a statement to that effect, and you're fine.

The sponsored immigrant's income can be counted in the household income if the immigrant is authorized to work in the US.
