Cant they just use their financial status and visit US instead of me
giving affidavits?

Hi INSNightmare,
    This is not the correct place for this question. Having said that if your parents can show assets in India than they do not need your affidavit of support. INS needs proof that they will go back to India. Generally not an issue with retired people. However it might also help to send in pay stubs, H-1 copy, affidavit of support and an Invitation letter (just a few words inviting them to stay with you and that u will take care of their expenses while they are here).

You will have to send copies of your passport, I-94 and H1 (if on H1) if you are showing affidavit of support. The consulars want to see that you are legally present in US. I know of a person whose asked to come again (visa was not refused) since that person didn\'t have the passport copies of the sponsering person. The visa was granted later.
