Advise .. on canada PR

I have applied Canada PR as a backup to US, when my LC was pending at DOL. Luckily my LC was approved, just before they ship the LC to BEC and I could file I-140 & 485.

Now, My 140 (EB2-India) was approved and 485 is pending (due to retrogression).

On Canada side, my application was recently approved and they are asking US$1700, to land in Canada. Canada is my secondary or last option, if US GC fails for some reason.

Getting a Canada PR in this stage (I-485 pending with EB2-PD 2004), will it affect US GC approval in any way?

What is you guys advise?. Should I drop Canada effort, in this stage?. My concern is spending $1700, if it is not required.

Consider Canada

Hi,
If I were you, I would choose to take the canada oppertunity. U are going to loose(in case if u get ur GC approval in advance, in my opinion it will take another 2 years for ur 485 approval) only 1700 USD. As you said its a good back up for u.

When did u attend the medical? if you have enough time just send the money and land in the final month, incase if u r lucky enough if u get ur GC approval before u land, u can get the money back from canada.

Believe me same situation happend to my friend, their visa getting expired next month (dec 2005), they also were thinking like you whether to land or not, but they choose to land and they didnt find any trouble. (they applied 485 in 2003 nov, they didnt get any approval due to retrogress)
I dont know where u live. if you live in east cost, try land via detroit ambassdor bridge.

Hope this help.

manass,

Thanks for the advise. I intend to pay landing fee as a backup. My another question is, how hard/easy to get back the money if we do not decide to land after getting visa?

Has anyone tried applying for AOS or CP while living in Canada? I have heard from some that you can do CP but not AOS? Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
