I am is on H1B. Though i am in the 1st year of my H1, i am concerned of the expected changes in the Green card processing. I am changing a contracting job and need to find a consultancy to do my H1B as my current company is about to close. I have read lot on internet about the Dec 31st date and the case needs to be open by that date for my case to be processed by the state i apply from. Given my case, i have to transfer my visa and apply for the Green Card which seems to be lengthy and takes more time than i have before Dec 31st.
Is it makes sense for me to go to a consultancy in one of those fast processing green card states? My assumption is that since my application is not going to be open by Dec31st, it does not matter where i apply from. Please advice me. I have MS in Electrical Engineering.
