advice on filing I-140

Below is my situation...

Both my husband and I are working on EAD.

My husband's GC is in process. His labor and I-140 have been cleared. His lawyer has filed I-485 for both of us (adding me as his dependent).

Now the company that I work for is also doing my GC process. My labor was cleared last week. My company is going ahead to file my I-140. Is this ok? Will this affect the GC process that my husband is doing?

Is there an advantage of filing my I-140? If some problem comes up and I-485 is denied for my husband/me can we file another I-485 based on my job and continue working on EAD?

Thanks

Yes, you can. Infact, it is good to have one more process toward GC. If your husband is denied for some reason, you can still use yours and carry on.

can you file for I-140 even though you are not on H-1 ? When filing I-140 don't you need to state the non-immigrant visa/status you are currently on ? Also you have provide to information regarding prior filing of an immigrant visa ( I-140 )
