I a phd student, on a F1 visa. My visa was issue for just 1 year, on 2003 and its long expired. I havent been out of the US since my arrival in 2003. Now, my I-20 expires in 2010, and I have been thinking on finally going back to my home country to renew my visa, however, Im a bit afraid that it may not get renewed.
This is because:
1. I have a daughter, who was born here, and lives with her mother (we are not together anymore, and where never married)
2. I havent been back to my home country in so long
3. I have family living here in the Us (an uncle, a US citizen)
Should I be concerned that I might not get my visa renewed? I have all my papers in order, I have a valid I-20, an employment letter saying I have funding for the semester, I will be enrolled in classes, and have a letter from my adviser talking about my research.. but still...
I dont need to renew it, but I just want to be able to do some traveling...
