Hi,
I need advice on my AP application:
My I-485 was transferred to Philadelphia last year in Aug. Since then I applied to VSC for extending my Advance Parole in November. Subsequentlly that was transferred to Philadelphia in December. In Feb I called the National Hotline Number and asked them to investigate since it was past 60 days since the last notice to me. They took my information and asked me to wait at least 4 weeks for a response. It is now May and nothing.
So I scheduled an infopass and I went to the local office in Philly and asked about the status of my case. The officer who was in a jovial mood, asked me to wait so that he can check on my file. He went upstairs and returned after 10 minutes with a stern face and while twitching his fingers asked me about the purpose of my visit. He said unless it is an emergency, they won't expedite my case. When I told him that my AP application was pending for more than 6 months and was outside the normal processing time, he said that the dates that they give out on the web site are just estimates. At that point I wanted to point out to him that if what he said was true even then the fact remains that these were their estimates not mine or anyone else's, but I refrained from making any such comment.
He assured me more than once that my case was actively being worked on ("We are currently working on your case" and "It is being looked at" etc.). I tried to probe and ask further but no info was forthcoming from him.
The only thing he was able to suggest is that if I wanted to, I could try and come after 30 days pass without any notice and see if that helped any. He would not give me any more information. He just sat there twiddling his thumbs - as if waiting for me to depart so he can work on the next case.
Now, I do not have an emergency, but it would be nice to have AP and be able to visit family, esp when the loved ones are unable to visit the united states due to health or other considerations.
Is there anything that can be done get the process complete or to know why this is taking so long etc. ? Any advice, tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks & Regards
