Hi everyone, just want to tell yu all about my case. I am married to a american citizen and we filed our paper work in april 2003 using a lawyer. The problem is that we have being waiting for months to receive something from ins in the mail, but we never did. We called our lawyer office everyday to find out what is going on but the only thing they telling us is that everything takes 90 days, remember we did not receive nothing from ins. Finally we make appointment with the lawyer to talk to him, he told us that he is going to send something to ins to find out what is wrong and we must call him back in three week. Do you know what the lawyer did, he never send in my paper work in arpil 2003, he send it in oct. 2003, thats why i did not receive nothing from ins. I got my interview letter, my interview is December 1, 2004. I have $300 more to pay the lawyer, i ask if i could make a payment plan, they said no that they want the money before the interview, so he gave me until monday November 29, to pay it off. Ok i ask if i could write a check, his asistance said yes, then she called me back the same day and said that the lawyer said that he is not going to take no check, well i told his asistance if he can wait friday which is December 3, and they told me no. I have $150 to give to him on monday and i am not going to get the rest until friday, what can i do in these situation? will it affect my interview? I do not know what to do.

That's blackmailing and you can bring that to court, hon. You dont need his help for the interview. If you have the originals of the INS notices you dont need him. Dont worry about that. As long as you have all the docs. 99% of us in your situation dont use lawyers at all. And that lawyer is jack-a*s. A single report to the appropriate authorities might lead to closing down his business even.
further any business that wants only cash and refuse to accept other major payment methods stinks like FRAUD, and propabbly is. You 'll just give $ 300 tax free money to your lawyer under the table. I would rather bring financial auditor than giving him cash.
Goodness, cant believe that you really try to to pay him. I will just say F**K OFF after all he has done with your docs and the delay of almost 7 months.

Paying lawyer

You do not need to pay the lawer anything. You have a solid case against him because he did not file your paperwork on time. As a matter fact, you can file a law suit against him asking for the money you have already paid to him. Although, the judge may not grant you all the money but will atleast give that jack a$$ lawyer a run around.

Now for your case...just go for the interview. If the marriage if legal and you have nothing to worry about.

Good luck. Let us know what happened in your interview.

Interview was today

Hi everyone, today was my interview at the philadelphia ins office. My interview time was at 2:30 but got called at 3:30. I went inside the office and the officer take my fingerprint and I sign my name. We went inside his office and then he told us to hold up our right hand and let us swear to tell the truth. We then sat down, then he ask for my passport, my id and my social security. He open my file then start to go over the questions like always. I have so much prove, and the only thing he take from it was just photos. The only question he ask us is how we met, my address, my telephone number,my date of birth and how long we were married. I have a co-sponsor and his birth certificate was missing, so the officer said that he is going to approve our case but he is not going to do it today. He told us to send in the birth certificate and then i will receive approve letter in the mail, then i must make appointment over the internet so i can get my passport stamp. If yu need my information, just leave me a message. For everyone that preparing for interview, have alot of prove and everthing should be ok. I have two big bag and the only thing he take is pictures, thats it. So happen that the interview section is over, i just need to send in the birth certificate and i will get my stamp.
