Hi,
I have submitted my application for a J1 hardship waiver over 10 months ago.
It went already from USCIS to DOS.
DOS received it on August 1st 2005. (over 7 months ago)
I have done the following:
Talk to my lawyer
Talk to our congress person ofice (they have called to the J1 desicion office)
Called the J1 waiver desicion office myself (the officer handeling my case wasn't there, and the person on the phone couldn't explain why my case was taking so long. She told me it usually takes them between 2-3 months)
And still, no desicion has been made.
Does anyone have any other suggestions?
Does anyone have a similar case (lenghwise?)
What should I do next?
I am running out of time.
Thanks

It took 8 months for me, and 9 months for my wife to get hardship waivers. I think the timeline depends on the case itself, on the case officer assigned to the case, and on how fast the sponsor views are received. From my experiences, you can't compare cases at all. We had the same cases with my wife, but totally different approval executions.

Not to fall out of status in my case, I had to move out to Canada for six months, while waiting for the J-1 waiver. But, it all depends on your specific circumstances. Good luck.
