Advice for consular processing

Hi everyone,


I got my 140 approved very recently and planning for CP in Chennai Counsulate.

When I talked with my lawyer , he says that both CP and 485 are having same priority date in May 2001. I am just in dilema whether to choose Cp or to wait for 485.


Could someone please suggest me on this ?

post your details here like(EB1or EB2 or EB3) and priority date.
If your date is current and if you start filing I-140 then it might take 5 to 6 months for cp interview.I guess now a days,it is taking the same time for 485 also.If both are same go for 485.But defenitly CP is little quicker than 485.
But 485 you will get EAD card and after 6 months,you can change the employer.Like that thare are some advantages and disadvantages.

I am on EB3 category. My 140 is approved on Feb 2 2007. Labor was filed on Feb 6 2006.

The current priority date is May 2001 for both CP and 485. Do I need to wait for CP to become current or Can I send in my documents, if I am going to CP ?

I have been stuck with back ground checks since May 2004 ( With H1b).

Would it be advisable to go for CP at this stage ( since I am stuck in back ground check).

I am a Canadian Permanent Residence with an Indian Passport. I am Currently in US. My Canadian PR is valid upto 2009 Feb. My Labour is approved and i am in the process of applying I-140. I would like to know if i can do CP in canada and if so, what is the procedure and what is the current waiting time and priority dates are ? DO i have to live in Canada to do the CP?

Were you able to get any info about CP in Canada? I checked in many forums and websties. I am not able to get any info. I have asked my attorney also. He is yet to get back to me.

Please share your experience after you hear back from your atty for everybody to be mustefeeed.
