Can somebody answer these questions regarding AP?

1) Is it ok to apply for AP even though you are not certain whether you will travel? Reason being INS is slow, so it is better to have it handy.

2) Can you apply for AP in a local INS and get it approved in a day?

3) Is AP also valid for 1 year like EAD?

Yes, you can apply for an EAD and not travel. Most local INS offices accept AP applications (please check before you go). AP is usually valid for a year.

our I-140 got approved Sep 01. me and my spouse on h1. planning to travel out of us in nov. do v need AP ? Can v apply for 485 and EAd before we leave?
Note: I need to get h1 stamped in my native country.
will v have any problems when we return ?

IF you apply for 485/EAD you cannot travel until you get you Receipt notice.

So your choice is either wait for Receipt notice of the 485 application or don\'t apply 485 till you return
