Advanced Parole - Question

Hello,

During the processing of the I-485 for the sponsorship of a parent of a citizen, if the parent wishes to leave for some reason to his home country, how hard is it to obtain advanced parole? How much justification is required - whether with some proof (do they need proof of the reason provided), and is there a limit to the number of trips per year that are allowed per person for leaving during this processing?

Any information about experiences by others on this issue are greatly appreciated.

Ashwin,
getting the Advance parole is pretty straight forward and not a big deal usually.. you can make multiple trips in a year. The I-131 (advance parole) is valid only for 1 year and theh you have to reapply..

Most of your questions are basic and have been answered quite a few times on the forum.. Try doing a search on the forum..

Thanks. I did look in the FAQ on this site and these questions aren't answered there. I believe I did look for the Advanced Parole in the Forums as well, and I could not get the answer as well. After posting the I-130 question (separate thread), when I re-read the immigration site, I found that information there on a different page than when I first went there. It seems that the immigration pages have information in different threads that connect up in a single place, and if you miss this spot, you miss a whole load of information.

Apologies for making people read unnecessary information.

In any case, if these questions are so common, I felt they should be in the FAQ.

Ashwin
